Why this must be read: When the spoilers leaked that Smallville would be bringing back Chloe's letter to Clark from the episode "Fever," certain fans went wild with hope. While the actual episode was a bitter disappointment, this fic is sweet, simple, and lovely, everything one would have hoped for.
He'd found it.
Oh, God, he'd found it.
But how?
That was the question that was screaming through Chloe's mind, as she stared up at her best friend, her face filled with shock, horror, and a bit of embarrassment.
"W-What... H-How did you... W-Where did you get that?" Her voice shook with the weight of her words, the weight of the revelations swirling around her and before her.
"I found it in Lana's things." he said, very softly, as he looked her right in the eye. "But it's not hers, is it? It's yours, isn't it?"
She managed a nervous laugh. "Now, why would Lana be keeping something of mine? Don't be silly, Clark."
He shook his head. "I'm not, Chloe. You wrote this. I know you did."
She couldn't speak, only stared up at him, and he sighed in response.
"'I'm the girl of your dreams, masquerading as your best friend."
