The Boys from Berlin Affair by Cord Smithee (NC17)

Hi, I'm the CrackVan driver for UNCLE this month. Please be patient with errors as I've never done this before. So, here goes:

Fandom: Man From UNCLE
Pairing: Napoleon Solo/Illya Kuryakin
Length: 160K
Author on LJ: Don't think so.
Author Website: Archived on Chrome and Gunmetal Madhouse
Why this must be read: I've seen many of Cord Smithee's stories recced here and have the same opinion of them I've seen from others. Anything this writer has done is well worth reading. I have a great interest in World War II and this story is so plausible. And slash too! What more could one want. Come along for the ride, and enjoy the story. Please let me know if the link doesn't work.

Hi! Good to see someone taking a turn at the wheel for UNCLE. It can seem like a daunting task, but you might want to check the past recs ... you can do this by going through the tags for UNCLE (tags are listed on the main page on the left side), although they only list 50 recs per page so you do have to keep paging back, or check the Memorable entries for the fandom:

http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=crack_van&keyword=Man+From+U.N.C.L.E.+Fanfic+Recs&filter=all

These were kept up until they went to the tag system in Spring 2008. What I've found the easiest thing is just to run a "find" through the memorable entries for the title and the author - this gives me an idea if they've been rec'ced before and if the fic has been rec'ced before - then check the tags for the time period after they stopped doing the memories. Don't worry about it, though. Even with checking, I've been caught rec'cing things that have already been rec'ced. Happens to everyone.

Looking forward to more story suggestions, and if any of what I've said isn't clear, just ask. It's not meant as criticism, just help.

Please use the posting template without removing any of the HTML. Also, don't forget your tags: fanfic, man from u.n.c.l.e.

Copy/paste it from the posting guidelines. It is already formatted with HTML. All you have to do is add your own comments where indicated.

Yay! Finally we're getting some MUNCLE action! I look forward to more recs this month.

Don't worry about being a newbie. You'll get the hang of it. Good luck.

Don't forget that [livejournal.com profile] georgiesmith has compiled a database of prior recs. You can find it here: http://community.livejournal.com/muncle/544800.html. Then just use the "find" command and page down for a title.

I find it depressing that I've driven five times - I jump in when there aren't other volunteers. I'm already doing the short story links, can I twist arms to get more people to volunteer to drive the van?

All the memories are now tagged. So you can just use the tags to check if you prefer.

I find the memory method easier myself though as it allows you to see more titles per page.

And don't forget [livejournal.com profile] georgiesmith's summary.
