Why this must be read:

This story is just beautiful. Set in the middle of war, two men are brought together by a mutual need for companionship in trying times. The prose never becomes overly gritty despite the fact that it takes us through the war into the aftermath. In my opinion, with a couple that is so unlikely, some stories feel very forced, but that is not the case here. By the end, you'll find yourself thinking - well, that made... a lot of sense. And then you'll frown and ask yourself how that's even possible.

Regardless, it's a wonderfully romantic story that never steps over that thin line into the realm of unbelievable or, worse yet, sappy purple prose. It's a nice grown-up story. Plus, uhm, it has lots of hot, angry sex. Yes, that always helps. ;)
