Action and Reaction by DeLila DelRio - FRM

Hello, I'm evil_jacquie and I'll be your driver for the Magnificent Seven fandom this month (applause, applause, applause) Thank you. I love all 7 of the guys but as many of you may know I have this special love for Buck (tall, dark, and awesome!)and Chris so you can expect some B/C.

Why this must be read – This is the only story I’ve ever seen by DeLila DelRio, but it is one that has stayed with me ever since I read it and made me yearn for some kind of follow up. It is bittersweet and very well written. I cry every time I read it.

The twenty minute drive out of Denver to the Dew Drop Inn was time enough for Buck to rule out the usual culprits as the cause of his friend’s current tailspin. In the years following the loss of his wife and son, anniversaries (good and bad), birthdays and holidays had all been a source of unrelenting pain for Chris, pain he’d tried hard to drown in alcohol. But Buck knew there were none of those days coming up, none that had passed recently. Besides, in the last 2 years, Chris had gotten through all those days without turning to the bottle.

And there wasn’t anything particularly rough going down at work. The usual bullshit paperwork and office politics following another spectacular set up and take down by Team 7, the way too common sniping of other teams because Larabee’s unit had made the big bust again. But nothing out of the ordinary.

He knew, deep in his gut, that this was his fault. He knew that what he’d done the previous Sunday at Chris’ ranch had been the catalyst for this binge. What he didn’t know was how to fix it.

Oh, excellent rec! It's been a long time since I read this, and it's just as good now as the first time I read it.

Great choice! Poor Buck; what a shock.
