As Water Follows the Moon, by Cara J. Loup (PG13)
Genre: Star Wars (Org. Trilogy)
Pairing: Han/Luke
Author's Website: Her work is archived at Elusive Lover.
Why this MUST be read:
I figured that for my first Star Wars rec (I'm late getting started, I know, my apologies!) I should start with one of my very favorite pieces. Cara J. Loup is one of those writers that is so good, so supremely talented, she leaves me in awe every single time. And this story, though very different than her normal style, is probably the best thing she's ever done... in my humble opinion, at least.
But be warned, it's definitley not your regular piece of fanfiction. This is a feast for the senses, playing with language and the rules of writing in exciting ways that leave me breathless with anticipation for more.
As an aspiring writer myself, not to mention an English major at Uni, I am always thrilled to pieces when an author does something risky stylewise. It gives me goosebumps when they stray from the norm and bring something new and different to the table. It doesn't always work out, of course. Some experiments in style fail, leaving the reader cold. I've seen it happen. But this story? Definitely *not* one of those cases, at least not for me.
This one is a sumptuous delight for the more discerning Han/Luke fan, and boy does it deliver!
