Blurred, by Destina Fortunato (R)
Genre: Star Wars (Org. Trilogy)
Pairing: Han/Luke
Author's Website: http://lyricalmagic.com/main.html
Why this MUST be read:
I love post-RotJ Han/Luke stories. With the sole exception of really fabulously detailed AU stories, post-RotJ is my favorite kind of Han/Luke fiction out there. I am always fascinated by the way the author deals with all the obsticles standing between these two men (i.e. Leia, forming the New Republic, rebuilding the Jedi Order, etc.) because everyone handles it differently.
Destina tackles a first person Luke POV and, along with that, all the guilt, responsibility, fear and suffering that the last of the Jedi feels... especially when faced with the chance at having his heart's true desire. She does a splendid job, capturing all the many facets of Luke's personality and making him a real, three dimensional person that we can identify with through his hopes, his fears, his pleasure and his pain.
Here's a snippit: "I can't promise you anything, Han." The words weren't easy to say.
His eyes locked on mine, searching for something that he found without much difficulty. "Did I ask?" he said tightly.
"You might have," I answered, knowing suddenly I'd never had the choice, had never been the one who would decide. I reached out my hand, the one not damaged by darkness, and swept my fingers across the muscle moving in his jaw, tightening under my caress.
