Collision by Gemma Files(NC-17)
Fandom: Oz
Pairing: Beecher/Keller
Author on LJ: Dunno - anyone else know?
Author website: Segregation
Why this must be read:
It’s a hot, hot summer in a nameless city, many years ago and a 27 year-old, bored’n’horny (I’m using that as a single word from now on *g*) Chris Keller is looking for action or trouble or whatever else might come his way. Cue a chance meeting with uptight yuppie lawyer Tobias Beecher and the scene is set for a truly explosive encounter.
This is a smart, plausible - and hella hot - "what if?" scenario, created using the few snippets of canon information regarding Keller’s past, and fleshed out with a whole lot of insight into what makes our boys tick. The characterisation is superb. I love this version of Chris – bored, restless, horny, playful, sexy, frightening, dangerous. Likewise, Gemma has Toby’s mix of charm, arrogance, daring, self-doubt and fear down pat.
Oz is always big on the consequences of your actions catching up with you eventually, and I love the notion that this long-forgotten anonymous encounter somehow foreshadows aspects of their later relationship.
Oh, and a leather-clad, bleach-blond Chris Keller? If that doesn’t get your motor running, you are made of stone, prag.
