Sweet Sorrow by Neutral Alienist (K)
Fandom: DOCTOR WHO
Pairing: Implied Doctor/Nyssa and Doctor/Turlough
Length: One-shot
Warnings: Spoilers for most of the Fifth Doctor era
Author on LJ:
neutralalienist
Author Website: Master list of fanfic
Why this must be read:
Peri stumbles across the Doctor's bedroom and finds a box of letters she probably should not read, but as the reader we're glad she did, because they reveal so much about what the Fifth Doctor thinks and feels about his companions, from Adric to Turlough and everyone in between. Four letters, all written in an impeccable Five!voice, that are all (as the title implies) both sweet and sorrowful. If you wish the Fifth Doctor had a chance to properly say goodbye to his companions, this certainly might make it better.
I will never forget you.
That was sweet. She didn't know he could be that sweet, really. Does he only do it when we're not there?
She should have stopped then, put the three back and left, but there were so many left unopened. Someone else should carry the memories of these people, someone should share them with him at least a little.
