I'm a sucker for letter!fics, and I'm a sucker for AUs so this is just perfect for me - I hope for you as well, of course.
Ray and Fraser are at war, or better America is at war with Britain which puts both in the middle of it.
Journal Entry: June 20, 1812
My search for Maggie continues, but there is other news I must write about. The Americans have declared war on Britain. As the closest British colony to America, we are within easy reach and I fear there will be fighting soon. I suppose they have some cause to be upset with Britain: many of their sailors have been pressed into service in our Navy, and our alliances with the Indians is slowing their expansion into the West, but I fear we will suffer for their grievances.
There are rumours that the British Navy will blockade the American coastline, but they are still dealing with Spain and Napoleon. I fear they will not reach us in time to stop any blood from being shed. Fortunately, there are several thousand British troops throughout Upper and Lower Canada, and there is the militia. Still, I wish there was some way I could assist in the defense…
