The Two Men in a Bed Affair by Lacey McBain (G)

Fandom: MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.
Pairing: gen or pre-slash Napoleon Solo/Illya Kuryakin
Length: 5,500 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] laceymcbain
Author Website: Lacey McBain's Fan Fiction Library

Why this must be read:

Due to numerous U.N.C.L.E. missions not going according to plan, Napoleon and Illya end up sharing a haystack, a hospital bed, several hotel beds, and one particularly challenging resting place that I dare not spoil in advance. Told from Illya's point of view, this series of vignettes provides a compelling chronicle of his friendship with Napoleon, tracing its evolution from a civil working relationship to a caring partnership. By turns funny and dramatic, The Two Men in a Bed Affair reveals much about both men through their reactions to the dangerous and, at times, bizarre life of an U.N.C.L.E. field agent.

Napoleon and Illya's voices are so convincing and their banter is so entertaining that it's hard to believe that this is Lacey's first foray into this fandom. Hopefully, this will be far from her last Man from U.N.C.L.E. story.

I hope so too. She seems to dabble in a lot of fandoms -- she only wrote one in The Sentinel, which is where I know her from. It was very good story but kind of disappointing that there were no more.

Thanks for the rec and for the others this month.

Thanks so much for the rec!

(I do tend to dabble a lot in fandom, but I also rarely give up on a fandom entirely, so chances are I'll write more.)

ooo, does that mean you might do another Sentinel?

Oh, I love Sentinel. I've got a friend who's just started watching it too. And I have some ideas for fics, so I wouldn't be surprised if I write more Sentinel. A lot of my writing comes from whatever catches my brain at the moment, and I tend to have to write to get rid of it so I can get back to other work.

But since I'm doing a lot of writing in my work life and at school, I don't have as much time to write all the stories I want. However, I never say never. (And if it makes you feel better, I have people in a number of fandoms poking me to write more ... which is really flattering. This way, at least, everybody gets a little something, and I meet lots of great people with good stories to tell. *g*)

Oh, you never know. I'll probably do more Sentinel at some point. I've got a friend I just introduced it to, and that always helps me feel more active and writerly, when I have someone I can share the show with.
