Why this must be read: Any kind of Sylar/Claire is a pretty tough sell for me, but boonies succeeds in a spectacular way. The story is told from Sandra's POV, while her mind is clouded and breaking down from what Noah and The Haitian have done to her, and her peculiar perspective and commentary are quietly heartbreaking. Sandra watches, not quite understanding, as Claire obsesses over tracking and catching Sylar ... and one day succeeds. But her success comes at a price.


Sandra's memories are vague, but Claire tells her things.

Like: 'I hate him,' and 'I'm going to kill him,' and Sandra half-remembers meeting him for the first time.

Within that heavy haze she associates only with Odessa, Texas, there's a flickering memory of a polite young man asking, quite persistently, about her daughter. Telling her, 'I'm special. Just like Claire.' Smiling like he knew a secret.

Sandra may not remember much, but she remembers that look.
