Why this must be read:
This is a rare glimpse of Nathan and his thoughts and feelings at the death of his father. The first part of the story is told from Nathan's POV and describes the events of the funeral. The author captures this practical man's grief very well and does a great job of describing the other men's reactions too.
The second part of the fic is a description of the wake and the ending is a great mixture of sweet and bittersweet as Nathan realises he is indeed among friends.
