LIKE WATER by Dirty Diana Rated R
Fandom: TORCHWOOD
Pairing: Jack/Toshiko
Length: One Shot
Author on LJ:
dirty_diana
Why this must be read:
Toshiko is probably the most overlooked character in the verse, and good Jack het fic is hard to come by in any case. A deftly written what-if, this is the story they might share in the 1940's, intermingling with flashes of the now. Diana shows us glimpses of Jack and Toshiko's relationship that are poignant and tender, but have just enough punch to make you ache. Interestingly enough, that's the way Tosh's canon always felt to me onscreen, so I found this to be a wonderful tribute.
"There are habits that you don't lose. Jack sleeps lightly, like a nineteen year old too close to enemy lines, under a sky that is too bright for nighttime, when every sound could be a siren."
