Why this must be read:

”After Judgment Day, Kyle felt like less of a responsibility and more of a gift. The motto changed. Reese Boys. They were the two Reese Boys. Just the two of them against the world. They were all each other would ever need.”

In its simplicity, this paragraph sums up the fic quite well. Except that this isn’t a simple fic. The Reese Boys lets us into the mind of Derek Reese. It shows us a backstory for him and for Kyle that we haven’t yet seen in canon, one that’s true to all of the Reese Boys, while at the same time giving us a glimpse of Derek coming to terms with being a man out of time and with the dichotomy of dealing with the teenage John Connor while his own memories of the adult John Connor keep getting in the way.
