Hostel by Emma Leigh (NC-17)
Fandom: MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.
Pairing: Napoleon Solo/Illya Kuryakin
Length: 1800 words
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: Unknown
Why this must be read:
I admit, I'm really surprised that this hasn't been recced before (at least, not as far as I know). It's such a good, economical, and ultimately erotic look at the two while they're undercover. The amount of tension that exists in this short fic is palpable--but it's not exactly sexual tension. I'd better stop here, otherwise I'll spoil it. But I must say that I have to love it for the first line alone: "The heat was oppressive, the hostel hostile." The play on the words "hostel" and "hostile" was my most immediate thought when I first saw the title of this fic, and I'm glad the author chose to get that pun out of the way in the first sentence, in the most nonchalant way possible.
