Why this must be read:

GO is a book that blends moments of soul-shuddering terror with hysterical madcap farce, and the fandom as a whole does an admirable job of taking both those strands TO THE WALL. This unspeakably funny story leans strongly towards the latter - it's one of my favorite examples of multiple subgenres of Aziraphale/Crowley story: the historical romance, the comedy of manners inherent in the Heaven/Hell culture clash, the drunken buddy tale, the UST-drenched sex farce, and the unpredictable interaction of angelic biology with the pleasures of humanity. There is chocolate, there is a bar brawl, there is swashbuckling, there are Crowley's questionable attempts at chivalry, and there are illustrations! That should speak for themselves. (Disclosure: QW is also a regular collaborator of mine). Bender writes the funniest and most spot-on drunken dialogue of anyone in this fandom (an important skill), and that's just warm-up to the escalating madness. Beverage warnings apply to every line.
