Why this must be read:  Because it’s an enjoyable story that showcases Blair hard at work trying to be the “guide”. 

Set just after Rogue, Blair worries that zone-outs like the ones at Rainier and on the bridge pose a continuing danger to Jim’s life.  When he admits that he is “winging it” when he finds solutions to sentinel problems, Jim agrees to run some tests to analyze the zone phenomenon.  Nice story that explores in detail what the show didn’t have time to do – show Blair the Observer studying and testing Jim. The ending provides a smooth segue into another episode.
