Why this must be read: Because it’s a post-Kirby Plaza AU in which everyone becomes friends, just like they should have all along, and told through Molly’s little girl POV. This is so beautifully sweet and touching, but with lots of real-life angst for the entire cast to keep it from being sugary. In addition to the heartbreakingly wonderful relationship that grows between Mohinder and Molly, there are so many great interactions here that we were cheated of in canon: Claire and Heidi, Mohinder and Molly spending lots of time with Niki and Micah, etc. But my favorite thing about this fic is that it really gets New York City. It’s so refreshing to read a fic by someone who clearly knows the city inside out and picks locations and details that add to the atmosphere and set the Heroes world firmly in the real world.

Heidi is the one who notices that Molly has been wearing the same three outfits for over two weeks.
She must say something to Mohinder, because the next day Molly goes shopping with Niki.
Niki understands that Molly wants pink things, and she remembers to buy underwear, socks, new headbands, a hairbrush, all those things Molly wouldn’t have remembered by herself. The kinds of things only Moms think about.
