Why this must be read:
Because canonically speaking, Fraser knows Mandarin and the idea of seeing him in the Browncoat 'verse is just . . .made of win. Here's Fraser--someone who has always self-identified as part of the RCMP above nearly everything--400 years in the future. His interaction with all of Serenity's crew members rings true both for him as well as for them. It's funny and worth reading, if anything , to see how well Fraser can adapt to the situation.
For the first time since his childhood, Fraser found himself truly alone. Even his faith in the once promising Alliance had faltered since the broadcast of the report about the true origins of the Reavers. Soon after, Fraser quit his posting in Londonium and decided to explore the universe.
And that was how he came to be traveling on a ship called Serenity.
