Starting Over by Aurilly (PG-13)
Fandom: HEROES
Pairing: Mohinder/Sylar
Length: Epic
Author on LJ:
aurilly
Author Website: Fic Masterlist
Why this must be read:
I'm very picky when it comes to my Mylar fic. I tend to shy away from fluff, and pretty much any fic in which Sylar goes by Gabriel. With that in mind, there is no logical reason why I should love Starting Over as much as I do. It's not really fluff, there's plenty of angst, but a fic where Gabriel is trying to live a normal life while besotted with Mohinder isn't something I shouldn't normally like. Aurilly simply has a way with this type of fic. The characterization is fantastic, and it's not just the main boys - Peter's appearances make me especially happy, Molly is fantastic, and more!
Aurilly's summary says this: What would have happened if Sylar had gotten "better" during his time in the Mexican facility? Angsty but cute Mylar in alternating first-person POVs. It's basically an ode to NYC. But it's more than that. Mohinder and Sylar go on a journey, the characters evolving in a way that is genuine and heart-felt.
I dare you not to love it.
