Why this must be read:
There are countless stories written about Buffy and Angel and all the super-girls of Joss' Verses, and so few seem to written about the quietly wonderful humans that support these heroes. Xander is always there for all his girls and this story gives us a chance to focus on him and the quiet strength of his character as he moves through an Slayer finding mission in Africa after the end of the main series.
This story is a lovely exploration of Xander's character and is filled with lovely reflections of his experiences and relationships given the time and distance to think on them. And the ending is just very, "Xander."
