Why this must be read:
after the long previous fic recs, I thought, you might cherish some shorter fic, for a change :)
This has been the author's first and so far only SV fic, but what an entrance into clex!
The way she was able to capture Clark's feelings as I thought, they should have been in that SV episode "Spell" , is simply perfect!

or the briefest moment, Clark allowed himself the realization that Lex might have stayed at that piano, disregarding hunger, thirst, exhaustion, until one of them consumed him... and he died. Clark was unprepared for the surge of grief that struck him then, bitter and nauseating and stinging like Kryptonite. Contemplating a world without Lex Luthor made him feel like all the wind had left his body in a rush. And I was worried about a stupid interview.

And why Lex? Again? God, why not him for once? Lex, Lana, Chloe, his parents... It was always everyone he cared about. Everyone he loved. As if somehow the cosmos knew how best to twist the knife. Lex. It would have to have been Lex. Nothing could be worse.

Now wait just a minute. When had Lex become the single most important person in Clark's life?
