Why this must be read: Executrix is on record as saying she believes in the Blake/Avon pairing but doesn't think it's a good idea for either of them. This is a good example of why. Belatrix Carter wrote a story, (two for the price of one today) Someone to Watch Your Back, breathing life into an old B7 cliché: Avon's canonical back trouble leads to massage which leads to guess what. She did it from Blake's viewpoint; Executrix, typically, wanted to explore what it looked like from the other side and wrote it in Avon's voice. His reaction when he gets what he wants says everything about how Executrix, and several others, see this doomed relationship:

" …the wonderful feeling of heat and pressure against me, and the small sounds generated by the Blake-fingertip interface very nearly served to distract me from the terrifying realization.
Now I'll never get out of here. I'll never be able to leave, never be able to go anywhere safe. He can ask me anything, and I'll do it."

I *did* think about volunteering to do a stint using the theme "why I wanted to put these in Tales from Space City", but you two seem to be managing that for me quite nicely. :->

[contemplates making theme of next issue "recced on Crack Van"...]

Since I've suddenly started making progress on the detailed outline for Journey Into Freedom, I might actually be able to indulge in some heavy-duty reviewing-not-for-money next month. What does one actually do to volunteer?

Of course, it may consist of slightly rewritten versions of the stuff I've been posting to the Hermit board...
