Why this must be read:

I'm going to quote the sub title here AKA: I Have Fixed It Without Changing a Single Piece of Canon! Yep, my final rec is the beautiful 'Everywhere is Walking Distance, If You Have the Time' which was posted a record amount of time after CofE aired, and fixes it. Fixes it wonderfully, and completely, but not with schmoop, or AU, and not without some stress and trauma along the way. I cried buckets when I read this the first time, although I blame the fact I was in a bit of a state at the time - I'm better now :) This is still an amazing piece of story-telling, it even makes me feel sorry for the 456, which I thought impossible. It jumps linearly in time, which I love, and yet it is so meticuously constructed, it's like all the bits slot together to become far more than the whole. Read it, if you want to feel better about CofE - or even if you don't. Read it.

The Day After

“They’re what?”

“The bodies, sir. Of the victims at Thames House. They’re gone, sir.”

“Gone where?”

The soldier looked grim. “They just…shot up into the sky, sir. Like fire.”

“Mr. Frobisher.”

The pair looked up as a man in an expensive suit rushed over. “The Prime Minister needs to see you, right away.”

“Fine.”

Frobisher rushed to his meeting with the Prime Minister. The man in the expensive suit took in the empty room, bereft of bodies, and rushed to a meeting in the opposite direction.

Is it bad form to comment on someone reccing your own thing? Oh well. Thanks so much for the rec. I remained stunned that so many people enjoyed it.
