Hello, my name is kaydeefalls and I'll be your driver for Band of Brothers this month. It's about damn time this fine little fandom got another go on the van, and I'll do my best. Fair warning, I'm a Winters&Nixon sort of gal, slash or gen, but I'll do my best to offer a decent variety of recs. Here we go!

Why this must be read: From the original Berlin by Christmas treasure trove, this one follows Nixon through the chaos of D-Day, everything we didn't see him get up to in "Day of Days" before he showed up on that tank. It's spare and quick, with a restrained lyricism. Great Nixon portrayal, with bonus Perconte and just a light touch of implied Winters/Nixon.

As they crawl up the embankment towards the road, Nixon starts to think about all the different ways a paratrooper could die in France.

"Do you know where we are, sir?"

"As a matter of fact, I do," he says. "That's what I'm good for."
