darthfi and m31andy are the talented nutters writers behind fiandyfic's Hookerverse, a series of stories that answer the question of what might have happened if Gene’s reaction to Sam’s confronting him about his corruption had been markedly different. What if Gene and Phyllis were pimps as a sideline? What if Sam was blackmailed into working for them?

Their work is not for the faint of heart and you should really pay close attention to the warnings for each story in the series but... While it is seamy and horrific in parts, bringing beloved characters in to what at times is a brutally sharp focus, it will also often have you laughing your arse off, suddenly and without warning, while peering at the screen between your fingers.

So, as the rentboy said to the copper, go and examine the goods.

To be honest, I was actually shocked to see that the Hookerverse hadn't been recced before. Yeah, your stories aren't the "easiest" reads in the world but they're really well written and your take on how things could have so easily gone very badly wrong for Sam just ticks the "logic box" in my head, an unusual thing in and of itself in fanfiction land.

Hey and this from a woman who really doesn't like AU... although I stand by my assertion that the Hookerverse is really more of an AR story. ♥

Thank you so much - not just because it's a big honour for one of our works to be recced but because now I can rec one of utter fave fics - jamie_dakin's unofficial epilogue (assuming someone doesn't get there first!) as my doing so before would've looked more like (and, actually would've been!) a back-handed self-rec, which is a complete no-no.

Nothing in HV is contradicted by direct canon - although I suppose it can be argued that the personality change that causes Gene and Phyllis to end up pimping is probably a little too out there!!!

I'm not kidding around about how dark this is -- it really shouldn't be surprising given our canon that our fanfiction often walks in to dark alleys -- look at the "not for the faint of heart" comments above but it also has a lot of dark humour and Andy and Fi really *sell* this storyline and Sam too.

If you're going to take the pink wafers -- *waggles wafers* -- consider checking out the two stories I've already recced by halotolerant and nepthys_uk.

I wonder if some reccers didn't look closely enough at the posting guidelines to realize that you can rec a series of linked stories? I mean, if I thought I could only rec a stand alone story it would have been difficult to know which of the Hookerverse stories to rec.
