all the crickets it would take by matchsticks_p (R)

Pairing: Pete/Patrick, Pete/Ashlee
Length: about 2700 words

Why this must be read:
This fic is funny and angsty and a really great look at a Pete/Patrick relationship.
The instant Patrick falls asleep, Pete of course comes right out yet again.
This time, Ashlee follows him with a pillow and a blanket in her hands, informs him that they can both sleep on the couch because she is too damn pregnant for this bullshit. The click of the lock when she closes their bedroom door is dramatically loud in the ensuing hush.
Pete has to pick up Patrick's socked feet before he can sit down because Patrick won't move them for him. He drops them into his lap once he's settled.
"She knows about us, you know," Pete says, rubbing circles on Patrick's ankle through thick cotton.
Patrick stares into the back of the sofa and asks it, "Did you tell her, or are you drawing a conclusion from what just happened? Because her wanting us to sleep together on the couch isn't the same thing as her wanting us to sleep together on the couch."
"She's known since the first time I asked her out," Pete says.
Huh. It shouldn't make Patrick feel any better, but it does, a little bit. He slides up the couch enough so that they can both fit uncomfortably on it.
