When betrayed by the Konoha council elders, Naruto sets out to save Sasuke and kill Orochimaru. Unfortunately, he didn't count on the Snake Sannin's body transference jutsu. But Naruto loves a good challenge.

zrina's The Sound of Dreams is an almost perfect blend of adventure, humor, tragedy, romance, and revenge. It's a grand re-imagining of the Naruto/Sasuke dynamic so addictive, I'm sure Kishimoto only wishes he had thought of it. ;/

Tsunade stared at the reports in front of her without really seeing them. ... What had both alarmed and gave her hope was the one line from the message: '..the snake ate the fox, but his meal keeps coming back up.'

thank you for the rec, but how sad that it is your final one :( i'm sure many crack_van riders have read your recs and enjoyed them. btw, good final choice; despite my conflicted feelings regarding parts of the fic, i'm definitely not conflicted about its length. who doesn't love a well-written epic? not me :)

I second this rec. This fic is long but totally worth it. Amazing writing! The "scenes" are just *fans self* woah. Also there is enough romance to make your heart melt. --- All with a coherent and engaging plot! --- What more could you ask for?

Yes, yes, exactly. I'm blown away at the depth of this fic. And, yeah, it steamssssssss!!!! It does have a couple unrealistic points but so does most pros work. I think this story has one of the most enthralling plots seen in Naruto ... including Shippedun. Wish I had that writing skill.


(In case it wasn't obviously through my recs, I'm very unhappy where the manga is going. Sigh)

but really - wtf was with Sakura's dumbass "love confession"? Stupid stupid stupid. I've been hoping she would die since about episode 5 of Naruto. My wish has yet to be fulfilled.

I can deal with Sakura ... Honestly, I was that stupid at her age - 13 and 16. Tsunade proves that you can grow out of most things but it's like since Shippuden started females are dumb and only there to drool over our dynamic duo - Naruto & Sasuke. And I like Sasuke ... okay, I love the sob but his name is not on the title. I would love to see more on the Rookie Nine, Sand Nin & Team Gai, some time spend with some of the other jounin before killing them off, heck, even some back story with the Sannin, anything more than Sasuke angst and Naruto being, well, not the brightest bulb in the pack. He spent almost 3 years with Juriaya, what the heck did he learn of substance? This is the same kid who learned Rasengan in 1 week. Everyone I recced that is writing Naruto Shippuden seem to have given it more thought that those presently getting paid to write the orange wonder. I just don't understand.

I grouch 'cause I love but serious, it's as if there are 2 separate groups that wrote the first series and the second.

Oh I totally agree. They made it appear as if Naruto had changed but no where near as much as I think he should have. I would love some more back story on Kakashi and other ninja. I mean they had to stick in an entire filler arc to make you feel more connected to Asuma. I think that this happens with these long series though. I think the creator had an idea when he started but the publishers are pushing him to draw it out because Naruto is a huge cash cow. It happens with everything, tv, books, even music. I hate it.

The annoying female character is a pretty much a theme in anime. *ugh*
