Extreme Weather (PG) by phinnia
Hello, I'm Topaz and I'll be your House fandom driver this month! As I was going through my list, I saw a loose theme emerge, of beginnings/endings, rather fitting for this last month of the year. Here we feature gen, slash, het, AU, crack--all you need to do is buckle up, sit back and enjoy the ride. Here's our first rec:
Fandom: HOUSE
Pairing: House/Wilson friendship
Length: 2640 words
Author on LJ:
phinnia
Author Website: Author's memories on LJ
Why this must be read:
This is a simply haunting fic about House and Wilson on a visit to Antarctica. Phinnia's descriptions are gorgeously evocative; she makes the landscape come alive, as Wilson attempts to fathom the unfathomable. This fic is one of a handful that stuck with me long after I read it.
Excerpt: Ice, to the casual observer, is a simple solid - just frozen water, personified cold. It comes in white, or clear, or sometimes a dirty grey.
Wilson realizes as they travel past the glaciers in their tiny boat that there is nothing simple about ice.
