A Failure of Desire by chelle (PG 13)
A Failure of Desire by chelle monroe@globalnetisp.net (PG 13)
Fandom: STAR WARS: THE PHANTOM MENACE
Pairing: Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan
Why this must be read:
No, this isn't a crossover - I don't know of any for TPM (any recs?) but for tax day, I thought I'd rec something humorous and light. This story was written in response to a slew of writing wherein the Jedi council or Jedi law had explicitly forbidden sexual/romantic relationships between masters and their apprentices, thus causing much angst for Qui and Obi who had to secretly pine away for each other until Obi's Knighthood. "A Failure of Desire" makes the opposite assumption - in a Jedi Temple wherein romantic/sexual feelings between master and apprentice are expected and promoted, a desperate Obi-wan is forced to seek counseling for his lamentable lack of desire. Will the Temple psychologist be able to help? 'Chelle leads the reader through every Q/O cliche on the net.
Excerpt:
"He's my master. I'm supposed to desire him. Expected, it is."
"Well, yes. But just because most Padawans desire their masters at some point that doesn't mean all do. Sometimes the master and padawan are not of compatible species. It happens."
"My master and I are the same species."
"Oh. It might help if I knew who your master is."
"Qui Gon Jinn."
"Qui Gon Jinn. You're Qui Gon Jinn's apprentice?"
"Yes," Obi Wan answered glumly.
"And you don't desire him?"
"No."
Something clearly was wrong with the boy.

I know of a few others, mostly fairly implausible, if you're interested. There's a Obi-Wan/Skinner (TPM/XF), for example.

The link didn't work for me, so I had to track it down at MA. Here's a working link:
