Why this must be read: I've read probably every single story Pepper has ever written since the very first one, and I've had the privilege of editing a large percentage of them. She has an amazing sense of detail, especially for the minor characters, although she doesn't neglect Starsky and Hutch--her characterization is spot on. Here, Starsky discovers the aftermath of Gunther's shooting has brought something more than just a slow recovery.
