Why this must be read: The slow and gradual build-up to Jayne and Kaylee's becoming more than friends is beautifully done. Simon manages to shoot himself in the foot very effectively and Kaylee begins to think that the time she's spending with him isn't worth it.
I like how the author portrays Mal and Kaylee's friendship and really enjoy Mal & Jayne's method of ensuring that Kaylee's men friends have honourable intentions. Jayne and Kaylee's romance builds up slowly and when they finally find themselves together you get the feeling that it will last.
