I'm driving for due South in April! I'll be reccing some gen fic, because it's often overlooked, but there will also be recs of the low-hanging fruit variety, also known as why-hasn't-this-been-recced-yet.

I'll start with one of the latter.

Why this must be read: I'm surprised this hasn't already been recced here, because really, it's an instant classic. It's a science fiction AU, which aren't as common in due South as they ought to be. The fic is just overflowing with the joy of invention, and all the little details of world building are fascinating. But it's not just the atmosphere--there is also a plot which uses elements of canon in an interesting way, and you get sucked into it immediately. There is great snark and affection between the Rays, and also, this fic gives awesome Frannie.
