Why this must be read: ana_grrl, as usual, unfailingly captures the interactions between the Firefly characters. Her simple story of Jayne telling a tale of his best day ever manages to paint each person in the crew, even the silent ones, perfectly. Jayne's story is told in a typical Jayne-like way and I love that his fondest memory of that day isn't what we expect.

Still, some nights during one of them long, lonesome journeys between jobs, he finds himself sitting around the dinner table even after all the food's long gone, and gabbing it up. Ain't particularly gruesome socialising, he's got to admit, even if the doctor has messed up the dynamics some, and little sister tosses – with couple of sharp knives – the crazy into the mix.

Kaylee's got some funny stories, and Wash, even though he don't ever shut up, he's got some good ones too. Ain't hard just sitting there and letting them talk around him, maybe snorting at some of the less believable lies that Wash tells.

Maybe it's even nice.
