Taskforce by kethni [R]
Fandom: HEROES
Characters: Audrey/Nathan, some Matt/Mohinder, Peter, mentions of others
Length: 18,856 for all three parts
Author on LJ:

Why this must be read: One of Kethni's talents is to make these wonderfully believeable AUs. This one is no exception, as FBI agent Audrey Hanson is in charge of the Special Crimes Taskforce, a small unit of both normals and specials that handle crimes committed by those with abilities. With Matt Parkman as the most normal special you'll ever meet, Peter as the delightfully clueless all-around helper, and Mohinder as the most talented, horny nerd on the planet, and you have a truly awesome team. Add in Nathan as the "special" prosecutor, and a tough case where diamonds are being stolen and bodies being left behind by the robbers, and you have yourself a top-notch "cop show" that you wish you could watch every week.
Kethni weaves in the background of specials being suspected of any and all wrongdoing, giving this story some depth and heft even in the midst of the plentiful banter. And as a point, if swearing offends you, this is not your story. Told from Audrey's point of view, it's clear this woman has never met an f-bomb she didn't like and isn't afraid to employ any and all swear words in every single situation possible. Yes, those too. And those. And that one. But it completely fits in with how Audrey is written, and makes the story just that much funnier.
