Guides by Dolimir (R)
Since I'll be out of town this weekend, this'll be my last rec this month. It's been a bit of a bumpy ride, but hopefully someone got some enjoyment out of it. I look forward to another month some time!
Fandom: THE SENTINEL
Pairing: Jim/Blair
Length: 4,377 words
Author on LJ: dolimir_k
Author Website: 852 Prospect (just do a search for author: Dolimir)
Why this must be read:
This is a fascinating ramble through Jim's thoughts and conclusions on Guides. Dolimir does a wonderful job on explaining how Jim comes to realize the importance of what a Guide is and how they are as individual as Sentinels. Through a rescue of a Mafia boss' Guide, Jim comes to ultimately realize the effect meeting him has had on Blair and his life. The circumstances that brought Blair to meet Jim and "bond" with him has decided his path as Jim's partner in Major Crimes and in his life. Throughout the narrative, Dolimir does a very intriguing tying in with events from the TV series that illustrates her/Jim's take on Guides. And it fits oh so well! After reading this, I found myself rethinking about the series in a totally different light in regards to Blair's roll in it.
So for a last rec this month, I leave you with a very well-written and thoughtful look at Guides, the other half of the Sentinel partnership. Enjoy!

And this story was just such a great one! I've always found the role of a Guide fascinating, and this story illustrates why. :D
