That Was The First Time by futuresoon

Why this must be read:
Baccano! is a series that mashes a bunch of weird elements, out-of-sequence storytelling, and turns out fabulous. Immortal gangsters, a train massacre and the Roaring Twenties seems like a potential disaster, but Baccano! is an example of how sometimes anime is just plain weird, but utterly engrossing.
I'm reccing That Was The First Time because it tells a light-hearted story using the perfect voice for Jacuzzi Splot that fits nicely as a potential epilogue to the anime.
And because there's Claire, who is insane and charming and just casually homicidal. Any fic that has Claire is a good thing, but this one manages to remind me why I love him - he is a sociopath, but darned if he isn't a nice guy, too.
futuresoon manages to write a good, casual voice for Jacuzzi that rings very true to me - the story may be in third person, but it's almost conversational in tone. The concept - Claire and Jacuzzi taking their girls out on a double date - is sweet on the surface, but the author never lets us forget how very, very insane all four are. There's plenty of LOL moments, and lots of sly humor.

“Kid, you pulled off a major heist and are now living in a mansion,” Claire says. “I think you can afford a little heavy spending.”
“It’s not our mansion. And major heists don’t come every week—you have to learn how to conserve. It’s basic fiscal responsibility,” Jacuzzi says.
Claire stares at him. “You never fail to surprise me, kid,” he says. “What, are you a banker as well as a bootlegger?”
“If I was a banker right now I’d be more of a criminal than I already am,” Jacuzzi says darkly. “At least we’re mostly small-time.”
Claire shrugs. “I fed a guy his own tongue yesterday. Everything’s relative.”
