The Twelve Dancing Princess by K. Stonham
Fandom: ANIME/MANGA - PRINCESS TUTU
Pairing: Fakir/Ahiru
Length: 3K
Author on LJ:
sakon76
Author Website: Nataku's Fanfiction
Why this must be read:
Magical Girl stories are another staple of anime, and one of my favorite is Princess Tutu. It's about a duck that turns into a magical ballerina, but it's a lot more complicated than that (and like a lot of anime series, a lot better than it sounds). Princess Tutu is a fairly well-designed world where fairytales are real, with a lot of homages to Swan Lake.
I'm reccing this story because it feels like a perfect "missing episode," building on Ahiru's quest to reclaim Mytho's heart shards while working around one of my favorite fairytales.
No matter what she writes,
sakon76 always delivers a solid piece, thoughtful and full of vivid character insights. I love this piece because it's got the perfect dynamic between Ahiru and Fakir, and also would fit smoothly into the series canon.
Excerpt:
"You've got grass in your hair," he informed her. She started picking it out. He watched her. "Do you remember where you went last night?" he asked.
"Eh? Went?" Her hands stilled and she looked up at him.
"Last night at midnight you and the rest of the beginners class went out to the fountain and down the staircase beneath it," he told her. "There were woods, and a lake, and a castle where you danced all night with one of Mytho's heart shards."
