He'd been quiet and still for so long that Sam had worried he'd fallen asleep, but in the last ten minutes Callen had started sniffing. Slowly at first, but increasing in frequency and vehemence until Sam had started to worry about the guy's mental health.

“What's that smell?” asked Callen, finally.

“What smell?” replied Sam, confused. “I don't smell any smell.”

“No, there's definitely a smell,” said Callen, looking up. “I smell something.”
