Why this must be read: Khyber writes with a great deal of realism, but there's also a kind of sharp definition to his characterizations that makes them just a little bit more compelling than mere mortals. In Peace Be Upon Him, he's written a short AU, post Fight the Future/early S6 fic, in which Mulder and Scully work counterterrorism. On the surface they're as composed as ever, but it becomes apparent they're struggling to catch a handhold, just trying to keep themselves together. This might be my favorite of Khyber's fics. It's incredibly subtle and disturbing, and it's sensuous in a way that kind of creeps up and engulfs you.
