Most of my recs are going to be of early stories when the fandom was just taking off. This offering was written before the second series aired and effectively captures Sam's feeling of dislocation and his (increasingly) tenuous grip on reality. It's gritty and raw, but with a touch of hope that things might not necessarily continue their downward spiral.
