As we pull further out into the spacelanes, I've been wanting to rec this for some time, as it's a classic aging!Obi-Wan story, except of course he isn't. Offering a savory beginning, Mace is on hand, being playful. Mace doesn't do 'playful' well, because his chance comment to Obi-Wan near the man's 36th birthday has the Negotiator in angsty fits. You'll smile condescendingly and want to comfort Obi-Wan as he deals with mysterious noises emanating from his Padawan's bedroom and a certain Korun Jedi Master, whose comically inappropriate birthday offering is far from the mark. It's the tone of this story, too, that sits well on the palate: sweet, bitter-sweet, then sweet once more; you won't be surprised that this author writes fluff, as well as steamy PWPs.
