Why this must be read: As you can perhaps tell from my previous recs this month, I'm a Methos fan. I'm also a fan of Rebecca; even though she only appeared in two episodes, she had deep ties to and influence over many of the other immortals. This tale is, to me, the best of Methos and Rebecca and their history together. Set in the midst of tumultuous times in ancient Rome (with a flashback to ancient Greece and a flashforward to the 1990s), this tale has a lot of things that made Highlander great: Methos dealing with his time as one of the Four Horsemen, friends meeting again and again throughout eternity, a bittersweet epilogue after one of the friends is gone forever, and a slight pondering of what happens to the souls (very distinct from Quickenings) of immortals after their final death.
