Le Roman de la Starren, or The Evil Ex-Boyfriend's Tale by anadapta0801 (R)
Fandom: DOCTOR WHO
Pairing: Doctor/Master (Five/Ainley!Master)
Length: 1,300 words

Author Website: Fic tag
Why this must be read:
It's a Doctor/Master fic written in Middle English verse. With a parallel translation in modern English.
No, really.
Specifically, it's a Five/Ainley!Master crack fic written in 15th century West Midlands dialect rhyming couplets. And the story is impressively in keeping with the time period: there's a rose garden involved, and references to Catholic dogma; there are bawdy metaphors, and turtle-doves, and dodgy consent. And a questionable moral at the end.
It's pretty darn amazing.
A man ther was abroghd in myn countree, There was a man travelling in my country,
Who spek of Lofe from his auctoritee Who spoke of love from his own knowledge,
And whan, at Inne, was plyed with mede, And after having become drunk at an Inn,
Strokinge much his berde, did procede Stroking his beard all the while, started
To speke of an Maistre, a bourd, To speak of a Master, a dissolute person,
Forsooth he was thisse: an Tyme Lourd. Indeed he was this: a Time Lord.
