Why this must be read: Gervaise Ravel is seeking her revenge on Illya for killing Harold Buffington,  the man she loved. Her diabolical scheme is both grand and simple in nature as she first removes the one constant from Illya's life - Napoleon Solo. What makes Illya's ordeal even more arduous to bear is that it was Illya himself who delivered his partner into her clutches. Gervaise Ravel is one of only a small handful of villains to make a return appearance in the series; first in "The Quadripartite Affair" and then a few episodes later in "The Giuoco Piano Affair" and she is brought roaring back to life in this marvelous story by RAC which seamlessly weaves the events through each of the main characters perspectives. It's a pre-slash tale, but as with the series itself, we're never in doubt of the love, friendship, trust and devotion between Illya Kuryakin and Napoleon Solo.

I can't believe this has never been rec'd! It's one of the first stories I read in the fandom and I loved it. Thank you so much for choosing it this month.

I know! I couldn't believe it myself! (The delicious bookmark list is coming in extremely handy.) There are authors that I love for whom I thought everything they had online had already been rec'd only to find that isn't the case and there are some classics left to be claimed!

I usually check "memories" first as it feels shorter to me, but it's not kept up, so I still sometimes I have to to delicious..

This is one reason I do mfu_shortstorie I'm trying to remind people of older works.

I checked the crack_van memories and delicious and the total number of recs are only off by 9, which elmey feels are duplicates that she deleted and that, obviously crack_van hasn't.

What got me asking her about it was the fact that Jane Terry only had a couple of recs and some of her big stories were missing. So, I'll continue to use delicious (http://www.delicious.com/mfucrackvanrec) as a guide. At least that drivers of the van can use it to continue to rec classics that have been somehow missed.

You've rec'd some great older stories in mfu_shortstorie that would have gotten lost otherwise as the only place they're posted is in a comm.

I was part of the project to tag the entries in the comm. before delicious started. But I know memories ends a year ago or so so you can't rely on it for the latest reviews.

I'm going to try to scan some stuff into mfu_yumweekly this week.

I was part of the project too. I have a list of all the stories rec'd (except for this year) and so far only found that the very first story to be rec'd is missing. It might be one of the nine. I'm somewhat worried about repeating a story, but if it's an honest mistake I don't think the mods will mind that much. And if it's a mistake rec'cing a story that was later to be discovered was first rec'd back in 2003 even less so.

I'm not a member of yum. If I could join but not watch then maybe but since it's moderated membership the option isn't there. What are you posting?
