Why this must be read: - This is an AU set in a mediaeval world; part of the land is being attacked by a monster that kills indiscriminately and just leaves the bodies lying where they fell.
Jim and Blair are totally in character and the OCs are well drawn. The mystery of the monster is nicely handled; the reader is given some clues, though just what it is does come as something of a surprise. A good, well-paced story.

Helvetica did such lovely art for that story that I thought I'd mention her site here too.
