Why this must be read: - This is one of the stories inspired by Susan Foster's 'Dark Sentinel/Guide' series. Arnaa has come up with the idea of the very rare 'Shield' - someone who is a third partner with a dark sentinel and guide, the one person either will trust with the safety of the other.

Arnaa has taken a new look at the whole concept of sentinels and guides. There is some mysticism as well as misunderstandings and miscommunication, all combining to make a cracking good story that is about people learning to overcome these problems as they get to know each other.

The link below does take you to the story, but the link to 'fiction' on http://arnaa.bravehost.com is throwing up a 404 error for me.

Oops. The link to part two isn't working for me. I tried the sentinel index and it was busted, too.

I remember reading this story a couple of years ago, and I like it, even though I think Naomi and Alex are essentially original characters, since I think they are way out of character.

I like the way Jim handles drawing Blair out of his shell.

Thanks, folk. I really should have checked that the whole story was easily accessible... I'm taking a lesson from this for the next time I drive the Crack Van!
