Why this must be read:
Simon is such an out of place character. He's polished and kinda wimpy compared to the rest of Serenity's crew. But he's also possibly the bravest of them all.

This story fleshes out Simon a bit. It gives the reader a view into just what he was thinking when he rescued River. You realize just how lost and alone he must of felt on Persephone. Though nothing can explain away those glasses.

To calm himself, he resorted to a familiar exercise. *Problem: A patient arrives in the ER. He's fallen from a scaffold on a tall building and has multiple fractures and internal injuries. What do you do?* His mental checklist of tests and procedures kept him occupied until he reached the hotel the underground had sent him to, and he'd just finished saving his imaginary patient's life as he reached the front desk."
