Choosing by Kate Maclean (NC-17)
For my last one this month, I thought I'd go with one of my absolute favourite authors in Pros. Cheers me dears, it's been fun!
Fandom:THE PROFESSIONALS
Pairing: Bodie/Doyle, Doyle/OFC, Bodie/OFC
Length: 35,000~
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author website: Kate Maclean at The Automated Hatstand
Why this must be read: Because it’s a thrill to finally have this author’s work start to come online – she’s been zine only for years. She inspires strong feelings in the Pros fandom, but those like myself who adore her tend to do so unreservedly. Here she takes Bodie and Doyle to the edge and back again after Ann Holly makes an unexpected re-entry into Doyle’s life. Adjustments abound, not least of all for Bodie, who gets painfully cast aside..
Tight Bodie POV, smokin’ hot sex, warts’n’all characterisations, and a blisteringly good ear for the way they talk, this will draw you in and have you willing the pair of them on before you know it..
******
"I spy, with my little eye, something beginning with ... U."
"Christ, Doyle ... anythin' but that. Not 'I Spy'. We're not that far gone."
They were sitting in Bodie's Capri, monitoring a safe house which contained one of Cowley's most important grasses. The Price-Favell operation had progressed far enough by now, to turn one of the minnows in the arms conspiracy - small enough to frighten, but big enough to know some damaging details.
At least something was going right.
"C'mon. Guess." Doyle prodded Bodie rudely in the ribs. Silence. "Bodie."
Bodie groaned again. "Bloody hell, Doyle!" As insistent as a toddler, Ray was sometimes - always got what he wanted. "Fuck ... all right! Um ..." He looked around. Nothing. "Can't see anything." But he kept looking. "Underground."
"Nope"
"Umbrella." Though he couldn't actually see one.
"Where? Nah. "
Bodie lost patience. "I give up. What begins with U?" he asked sing-song.
"Unreasonable"
Bodie gaped, outraged. "That's not a thing!"
"It bloody is. I'm sitting next to it."
"Doyle ..." Through gritted teeth.
