Why this must be read: I have to admit, my favorite Hornblower fics tend to be ones based on the books by CS Forester as opposed to the ones based on the A&E series.
This particular fic explores one of my favorite scenes from Flying Colours, and it could have been lifted straight from the book. The writing was intentionally done in a Forester-esque style, and it just makes me sigh with happiness everytime I read it. Er, besides that, I love Brown. Fics with Brown in them are the best.
